Microbioz India, May, 2019 Issue
Cover Story : “Pharma Laboratory and Waste Management"
Volume : 5 Issue 5
Dear friends and readers, I hope you would have enjoyed reading our previous issue. Once again, I am delighted to bring to you the May 2019 edition of Microbioz India magazine, supported by the cover story entitled “Pharma Laboratory and Waste Management”authored by Microbioz editorial team.
The cover story features Pharmaceutical laboratory wastes and their management and includes some discussion on sustainability- as more and more pharmaceutical companies launch new projects, an even greater amount of pharmaceuticals are secreted into the environment. However, companies are still working towards that aim. According to the statistics reported by WHO, 15 percent of the waste generated by health-care activities is considered to be hazardous: infectious, toxic, or radioactive.
Added to this, the current edition has a special featured article entitled “Element speciation using HPLC coupling – PlasmaQuant MS and PQ LC”. LC-ICP-MS and IC-ICP-MS by Analytik Jena are versatile, robust and highly sensitive methods for the determination of element species in various fields, e.g. the characterization of environmental, food and agricultural samples or consumer goods. The coupling of the PlasmaQuant MS instruments and the systems of the PQ LC series offers outstanding precision and accuracy in element speciation, with well-defined and clearly separated peaks.
